8 PH muaythai athletes will train in Thailand in Aug til Sept: Coy Alumno & Zaidi Laruan (Baguio), Precios Ocaya (Laguna), Jonathan Polosan (CDO), Harold Gregorio, Ryan Jakiri & May Libao (Zamboanga) & new discovery, Robin Catalan (Iloilo). They will go with coach Brent Velasco to prepare for 2011 IFMA World Championships in Sept. at Uzbek. Let’s all wish them excellent training so that they could bring home medals!
August 22, 2011. Koh Samui, Lamai, Thailand – PHL muaythai athletes Zaidi Laruan (Baguio City) and Jonathan Polosan (Cagayan de Oro City) fought hard and won their respective bout. Four more weeks and the Muaythai National Team will banner the PHL flag in the 2011 International Federation of Muaythai Amateur World Championships in Uzbekistan. The group will be headed by MAP president Gen. Lucas M. Managuelod. Go Team Philippines!
Muaythai PH national athletes Jay Harold Gregorio and Precios Ocaya had their professional fights in Koh Samui, Thailand last night (Aug. 15). Harold won by KO and Precios by points. Congratulations!!!….. And goodluck to the other six PH national athletes who are set to compete also in Koh Samui. Go Team Philippines!
Contender Asia with no doubt has given Muaythai the exposure the art and sport deserves. 16 Fighters from around the world were selected to take part in what was to become a hit reality TV Show which showed the journey of those amazing muaythai athletes, and the sacrifices they made to become the Contender Asia champion.

Over the show’s 15-week broadcast, over 400 million people followed the journey of these warriors, cried when their hero left the loft and shared in the joy when their favourite made it to the next round.
The backbones of the show with no doubt were the contender trainers taking on the task of being mentor, coach and brother to these fighters. The coaches were hand-picked from the Lamai Gym because of their experience in having trained world champions for many years, their ability to deal with different cultures and who would be on the fighter’s side, be it in defeat or in victory.
Week by week the audience followed the strict training regimen and after the final episode, many of the coaches were invited to give seminars around the world.
This reflects the quality of the Lamai Gym trainers, whom are with no doubt some of the best in the world.
The Biggest Loser Asia is another hit show brought to the world by Imagine Omni-Media. The achievements of the show’s plus size contestants were nothing short of incredible.
Muaythai is an important tool in the weight loss program, as there are not many cardiovascular exercises which can burn so many calories in such a short time.
Muaythai training had been part of the weight loss programme right from the start, and Muaythai had the honour of being showcased in a full episode on the show.
In the special Muaythai episode, the training session is conducted by Muaythai celebrity Stephan Fox along with his assistant trainers from the Lamai WMC Camp, as well as the National Association for Muaythai in Malaysia.
